Welcome to 2022

Happy New Year and welcome to 2022!!!

Thank you so much for all your support last year. The new year signifies fresh beginnings as well as opportunities to nurture the seeds we’ve sown.

Last year, AWB began one of its biggest initiatives yet – The Safety in the Workplace project – to end Gender-Based Violence in the world of work, not just on the continent but around the world. We need to work together to create safer working environments where women can thrive, excel and become leaders.

We look forward to continuing our work to reshape policies and practices that impact people – particularly African women and girls – globally.

One of my main thoughts for the new year is to be open… Open to new opportunities, learnings, and ideas, while believing we can achieve anything when we dream big and continue to challenge the status quo.

This December, we joined the whole world to dance to Goya Menor & Nektunez’ hit song Ameno Amapiano. We want to see African women, ‘chill with the big boys’ (and make sure that the big boys are chill with us being on-board!).

For us, this means that African women’s voices need to be included in the global discourse… and in turn for that to happen, African women have to be in the rooms where decisions are being made.

Happy New Year once again. Let’s make magic in 2022!

Warm Regards,

Nkiru Balonwu
