Violence against Women in the Workplace

African Women on Board’s (AWB) Violence Against Women in the Workplace (VAWW) project was born out of the need to better understand the extent of workplace violence in both professional and non-professional spaces. The project was also designed as an advocacy and sensitization project aimed at educating various stakeholders on the effects of violence against African women and its consequence in the workplace.

Since its inception, the VAWW project has utilized learning activities such as focus groups, surveys, interviews, as well as convenings and campaigns to achieve this goal – raising public awareness, and educating women and other stakeholders on the prevalence of this issue. A core achievement of the project has been an increase in conversations about violence against African women in mainstream conversations around gender equity and women empowerment through publications, editorials and social media engagement.
